Computerized Adaptive-Attribute Testing: Incorporating Psychological Principles with Assessment Practices in Computerized Adaptive Testing
نویسندگان
چکیده
The influence of interdisciplinary forces stemming from developments in cognitive science, mathematical statistics, educational psychology, and computing science are beginning to appear in educational and psychological assessment. Computer adaptiveattribute testing (CA-AT) is one example. The concepts and procedures in CA-AT can be found at the intersection between computer adaptive testing and cognitive diagnostic assessment. CA-AT allows us to fuse the administrative benefits of computer adaptive testing with the psychological benefits of cognitive diagnostic assessment to produce an innovative psychologically-based adaptive testing approach. We describe the concepts behind CA-AT as well as illustrate how it can be used to promote formative, computerbased, classroom assessment. Computerized Attribute-Adaptive Testing: A New Computerized Adaptive Testing Approach Incorporating Cognitive Psychology
Modern computer technology has accelerated computerized adaptive testing implementation. However, few operational computer-based tests consider the underlying cognitive psychology of testing, either in the test development or in the diagnostic feedback provided to students. A concept of computerized attribute-adaptive testing (CA-AT), which integrates computerized adaptive testing with an attri...
متن کاملComputerized adaptive personality testing: a review and illustration with the MMPI-2 Computerized Adaptive Version.
Computerized adaptive testing in personality assessment can improve efficiency by significantly reducing the number of items administered to answer an assessment question. Two approaches have been explored for adaptive testing in computerized personality assessment: item response theory and the countdown method. In this article, the authors review the literature on each and report the results o...
متن کاملComputerized adaptive testing of psychological factors: relation to upper-extremity disability.
BACKGROUND Psychological factors are important mediators of the differences between impairment and disability. The most commonly used measures of disability and psychological factors are lengthy and are usually administered as paper questionnaires. The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between perceived disability and psychological factors with use of the user-friendly, web-based ...
متن کاملComputerized Adaptive Testing for Cognitive Diagnosis
Computerized adaptive testing (CAT) has become a popular testing mode in recent decades, because it improves testing efficiency over paper-and-pencil testing while maintaining accuracy. Usually CAT programs are built upon latent trait item response theory models. Cognitive diagnostic models, on the other hand, are constrained latent class models. It is of interest to both researchers and practi...
متن کاملQuality Control of On-line Calibration in Computerized Assessment
In computerized adaptive testing, updating parameter estimates using adaptive testing data is often called online calibration. In this paper, how to evaluate whether the adaptive testing model used for online calibration fits the item response model used sufficiently is studied. Three approaches are investigated, based on a Lagrange multiplier (LM) statistic (J. Aitchison and S. Silvey, 1958), ...
